I have no clue what exactly is the link between PS and MKL. I did some reading on the very few places I could find info about this (puget systems) and I'm not sure how this relates to my Photoshop issue. I'm 100% on LR, but PS still crashes using any tools that open up in separate window. What about indesign? I have no clue why the patch works exactly like this, it was a wild guess. But this could potentially fix more CameraRaw related issues - which I don't believe is the case with Indesign.
